Radiators Cold at the Bottom
-
Sludge collects in the lowest parts of your heating system, like the bottoms of radiators. Over time, it blocks the flow of hot water through the radiator. This makes some radiators feel cold in certain spots, mostly at the bottom.
-

-
Reduced Efficiency
-
A clean system heats your home quickly and efficiently. Blocked radiators take longer or in some cases stops your rooms from reaching temperature, making your boiler work longer and harder wasting energy and increases your heating bills.

Pump and Valve Damage
-
The circulating pump is like the heart of your heating system, pushing hot water where it needs to go. Sludge can clog and damage the pump, causing it to fail. It can also block valves, stopping hot water from reaching parts of your home.

-
Boiler Breakdown
-
Sludge is the leading cause of boiler breakdowns. Sludge works its way around the system in the boiler and blocks the small components inside your boiler.
-
05
-
Shorter System Lifespan
-
Rust corrodes your system from the inside out and will eventually cause your system to fail. Repairs and replacements are expensive, so preventing sludge is much cheaper in the long run.

How Does Sludge effect your heating system?
Powerflush company in West Lothian
Putting the heat back in your home one power-flush at a time!
A power-flush is a process which removes black (Iron Oxide) sludge build-up in the heating system including your boiler, pipes and radiators. A power flushing machine pumps water and chemicals through your central-heating system at high velocity to dislodge any build-up of sludge, rust and other debris. The power-flush machine has a reverse flow which helps dislodge the most stubborn of sludge.
This helps to improve the efficiency and lifespan of the boiler and central heating system and prevent costly breakdowns.
Over time the steel radiators and metal pipework in your heating system rust, this rust is collected by the water running through your system and returned to the boiler where it can collect and block the system components. Sludge also builds up in old radiators and stops them from heating to full capacity, which means your house takes longer to reach temperature which in turn wastes fuel and costs more to
Why choose us?

What is black sludge?

Sludge build up inside your heating pipe-work.

Magnetite sludge caught in magnetic filter

Black central heating sludge is corrosion mostly from the steel radiators in your heating system and is called iron oxide magnetite. Sludge will begin to build up inside your system and, left untreated, can cause serious problems. The solution is to power-flush your system to clean it out, add an inhibitor to slow corrosion down and fit a magnetic filter to catch any future corrosion.
